Aprilia Dorsoduro 750, 2009

 Aprilia Dorsoduro 750, 2009

The APRILIA DORSODURO 750
Developed in close collaboration with Aprilia Racing (the department of Aprilia responsible for thirty-seven world titles), the Dorsoduro 750 combines the best technology from the worlds of supersports and racing supermotards. The result is a distillation of performance and technology, a special, extreme, and elite motorcycle that is capable of elevating its rider to motorcycling excellence.
The lightweight, agile, and powerful Dorsoduro 750 is driven by a new generation of engine incorporating the most advanced technical solutions found on any bike of its kind. Thanks to advanced electronic engine management, Aprilia's compact 90° V twin delivers superb performance, well beyond the reach of its rivals. Specific power is 122.6 HP/litre and maximum torque is 82 Nm at only 4,500 rpm.

As you would expect from Aprilia, the chassis is unique in the supermotard segment. Having achieved amazing results on the super-specialist SXV, Aprilia's mixed trellis and aluminium frame is now one of the most distinctive features of the Dorsoduro, giving it the sort of directional control, responsiveness and precision the competition cannot hope to achieve.
Despite its essential design, the Aprilia Dorsoduro boasts the highest level of components, technical equipment and finish. Four piston radial calipers, wave discs, a hydraulic wet clutch, adjustable front and rear suspension, Tri-Map ride-by-wire engine management and a Matrix instrument display with on-board computer are just some of the many items that make the Dorsoduro unique.

The features of the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 in greater detail:
" 90° V twin engine with four-valve heads, double overhead cam and liquid cooling;
" tri-Map second generation ride-by-wire technology;
" electronic fuel injection with the latest generation injectors;
" mixed gear and chain timing drive;
" modular steel trellis and aluminium alloy frame for extremely light weight and high torsional rigidity;
" aluminium alloy swingarm with laterally offset monoshock;
" fully adjustable 43 mm upside down fork;
" radial front brake calipers combined with 320 mm wave discs
" also available in a restricted 25 kW version
" latest generation Continental two channel ABS

The DESIGN: CONCEIVED TO THRILL
The minimal and aggressive bodywork of the Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 adds the perfect finishing touches to the advanced motorcycle technology that forms the basis of its design. The Dorsoduro 750 is built around the rider. That is why, on this radical, daring and sporting machine everything contributes effectively to maximum riding pleasure. Plastic body panels have been reduced to a minimum for this very reason. As with top competition machines, anything that does not improve performance has been eliminated. Only the place for a number has been left to emphasis the bike's close ties with the world of racing.

The middle of the bike, the area most important to rider movement under competitive riding conditions, shows just how compact this design really is. The Aprilia Dorsoduro 750 is incredibly slender and agile and enters into instant symbiosis with its rider. Only a few metres on this amazing machine are enough to feel completely at one with it. Aprilia's design team have achieved this impressive result by giving the Dorsoduro a long, flat seat, derived directly from the world of racing, allowing the rider to find the most effective position at all times.
The sleek, compact tail houses a twinned exhaust, a solution that not only gives the bike a mean, aggressive look but also achieves perfect symmetry and ideal weight distribution. The hand guards are derived from those of the SXV supermotard and, despite their streamlined look, offer effective protection against accidental impacts with the control levers.

The ENGINE: A STATE-OF-THE-ART TWIN
Numerous improvements have been made to the Aprilia 750 cc, 90° V twin engine, which now features mapping specially developed to bring out the Dorsoduro's aggressive character.
Improvements have been made to various areas of the 749.9 cc engine with its bore and stroke of 92 x 56.4 mm. As a result the electronic and mechanical content of this V twin engine sets new standards not only for engines of this size but for many far larger units too.
The electronic engine management on the Dorsoduro 750's engine leads the field in technology and performance. The Dorsoduro features a second generation electronic throttle with Tri-Map selectable triple mapping.

Three performance modes, Sport, Touring and Rain, can be selected from a switch on the handlebars (with the throttle closed for safety reasons). The Dorsoduro changes its character radically, depending on what mode you select. Sport mode gives you aggressive instant power; Touring mode gives you a smoother action, better suited to relaxed long distance riding; and Rain mode gives you ultimate safety slippery surfaces.

The Tri-Map electronic throttle also means smoother, more consistent power thanks to more accurate and precise throttle control based on parameters including engine speed, gear selection, air flow, throttle position and temperature.
Whatever mapping you select, the engine is always ready to deliver the best possible performance in terms of acceleration and rev range, giving you an amazingly satisfying and entertaining ride.
The exhaust is made entirely from stainless steel. The collector pipes meet in a single silencer under the seat before splitting again into two tail pipes. The large volume of the exhaust system also aids engine breathing and boosts efficiency.

Suzuki KingQuad 750AXi 4x4, 2009

Suzuki KingQuad 750AXi 4x4, 2009

 The Suzuki KingQuad 750 is an ATV like no other. Just like when it built the first four-wheeler, Suzuki bestowed upon its newest ATV both functional and sporting features. This new KingQuad 750 is designed to be not only the best all-around sport/utility ATV currently made, but the best QuadRunner ATV Suzuki has ever manufactured.

The KingQuad 750 is powered by a single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC engine with a bore-and-stroke of 104mm x 85mm - displacing 722cc. The big bore helps this four-stroke develop abundant torque, especially in the low- to mid-rpm range. The fuel-air mixture is delivered efficiently via Suzuki's own fuel-injection system, featuring technology tested through years of development in high-performance motorcycles. Advantages of the KingQuad 750's fuel injection system include reduced fuel consumption overall. Also, there are no choke operations or carburetor settings to consider. Electronic fuel injection provides better throttle response and smoother engine power than a mechanical carburetor. Finally, the KingQuad 750 has the ultimate power-delivery drivetrain and transmission with three drive modes available: two-wheel drive, four-wheel drive, and front differential-locked four-wheel drive.

Built around an all-new high-tensile steel frame, the KingQuad's suspension is fully independent. It's designed to maintain the necessary rigidity of a hard-working utility ATV as well as the light weight of an easily manageable recreational four-wheeler. New front and rear brake systems help smoothly slow the KingQuad 750 -- the front end features hydraulic brakes with 200mm discs at each wheel. The KingQuad 750 rides on newly designed, 25-inch, bias-ply Dunlop tires mounted on pressed-aluminum-alloy wheels.

With its high-arched fenders and sharp headlights, the Suzuki KingQuad 750 combines sporty appeal with utility strength.

Yamaha Raptor 700R, 2009

Yamaha Raptor 700R, 2009

The designed to dominate any terrain, the sharp-handling 2009 Yamaha Raptor 700R draws jaw dropping power from a 686cc liquid cooled engine. Electronic fuel injection means fantastic throttle response and performance, while a light hybrid chassis with aluminum rear section helps make it the lightest thing in its class.

At the top of the food chain you have little competiton, and with the Raptor 700R, there simply is no other ATV like it.

This is truly a lightweight big-bore sport ATV, with an engine designed for torque, and a chassis designed to rail corners. Inspired by the YFZ, the Raptor 700 R has many of the race bred features developed from years on the track, with a little extra comfort built in. With a wider/thicker seat, taller bars and suspension damping geared for the trails, the Raptor has an edge over the YFZ for long distance trail riding. It's more comfortable, has more leg room, and with all that torque, you aren't searching for gears every corner. So if you're looking for the ultimate sport ATV, and spend most of your time on the trails, look no further. The Raptor 700 R… let them eat YOUR dust.

NOTHING ELSE GETS CLOSE.
If storming, effortless power in a world class chassis is the perfect recipe for an ATV, then the YFM700R is a feast fit for a king.

The YFM700R starter button opens a door into a whole new ATV landscape of high-traction discovery. This isn't just the biggest-engined Yamaha ATV, it's also one of the most exciting.

There are three main factors contributing to YFM700R's exceptionally ride characteristics. First, the hybrid aluminium/steel sports chassis, which makes it the lightest ATV in its class. Then there's the highly absorbent, fully adjustable long-travel suspension front and rear for precise handling and energy-saving comfort on long rapid trail rides.

And finally of course there's the mighty 686cc engine, the YFM700R's smoothly pounding heart. This single-cylinder powerhouse is the ultimate expression of Yamaha's four-stroke engineering expertise. High torque and big-bore power gives the 700R terrain-conquering ability irrespective of whether it's on the flat, a loose incline or across rocky slopes. A confidence-building ride is built into every bolt, spring, chassis section and engine part. Big front disc brakes with twin-piston calipers and an adjustable lever give maximum stopping performance, while EFI fuel injection provides advanced fuel management for optimum power delivery.

Any expectations based on previous ATV experience have to be left back in the van because the dynamic 700R will reset every benchmark you ever had. If unstoppable riding action is top of the wish list, nothing else comes close.

Highlights:
= New LCD gauges with speed and dual trips
= 686cc of liquid-cooled fuel-injected power

The features and benefits:
The 686cc Fuel Injected SOHC 4-valve single is a high torque monster that's so smooth, you may find yourself using fewer gears to go from corner to corner.
YFI means no choke and easier cold starting.

A forged piston for reduced weight and added durability, combined with an aluminum cylinder body with composite coating offers reduced weight, increased cooling ability and additional wear resistance.
Roller rocker arms reduce friction in the valve train, which allows the engine to rev more freely leading to better overall performance and improved throttle response.

The frame of the Raptor 700R will also turn heads thanks to its hybrid design. High-tensile steel marries with a cast aluminum frame up front, while the rear frame is die-cast aluminum. This design ensures the Raptor stays compact and light weight while reducing vibration and ensuring optimum rigidity.

The double-wishbone front A-arms feature reduced weight and increased strength thanks to the use of aluminum, square-shaped tubes of the upper arms and steel lower arms.
The front shock absorber incorporates a oil damper, adding to the optimum suspension set up.

The one piece aluminum die-cast rear swing arm offers superior rear wheel traction, reduced weight and added comfort for the rider.
Not that you'll want to stop once you get a taste of the Raptor 700R, but it's worth noting that the braking system is ready, willing and definitely able to stop you in your tracks. The hydraulic front brakes get YFZ-type twin piston front calipers while the rear disc size is reduced for lighter weight. The new system provides plenty of stopping power regardless of the terrain you're traversing.

The popular toggle link-type parking brake lever returns for 2008 with the auto-adjust feature that keeps maintenance to a minimum.
The power of the Raptor 700R is put to the ground via a set of front and rear Dunlop radials. This design offers improved cornering and added comfort to riders under a bevy of conditions.
The tires are mounted on aluminum rims, which include a rolled edge for added durability.
The Raptor incorporates a YFZ-style headlight, integrated LED tail light and YZ-style seat, which helps to improve rider mobility and comfort under all riding conditions.
